In construction, rotary drilling RIGS are widely used due to their advantages of high efficiency and flexibility. However, when construction encounters groundwater, if not handled properly, it will not only affect the construction progress but also may cause potential safety hazards. The following introduces the coping strategies for rotary drilling RIGS when encountering groundwater during operation from six aspects.
1. Timely drainage and dewatering: By using sump dewatering or well point dewatering methods, the groundwater within the construction area is drained out to lower the groundwater level, keep the construction surface dry, and create favorable working conditions for the rotary drilling rig.
2. Optimize the performance of the mud: Adjust the specific gravity, viscosity and sand content of the mud, enhance the mud's wall protection capacity, prevent the collapse of the hole wall caused by groundwater, and ensure the quality of hole formation and construction safety.
3. Select the appropriate casing: Depending on the groundwater conditions, use an extended or heavier casing, increase the burial depth of the casing, isolate the influence of groundwater on the hole wall, and play a role in stabilizing the hole opening and preventing the hole from collapsing.
4. Adjust drilling parameters: Reduce the drilling speed, decrease the drilling pressure, avoid damaging the stability of the hole wall due to excessive drilling speed, and optimize the performance of the mud to ensure a smooth hole formation process.
5. Strengthen monitoring work: During the construction process, monitor the water level inside the hole, the condition of the hole wall and other data in real time, promptly detect any abnormalities and take countermeasures to prevent accidents.
6. Develop emergency response plans: Prepare leak-stopping materials such as clay and cement in advance, as well as water pumping equipment. In case of sudden situations like water gushing or hole collapse, promptly activate the plan for handling.
In conclusion, when rotary drilling RIGS encounter groundwater during operation, by scientifically and reasonably applying measures such as drainage, optimizing mud, adjusting casing and drilling parameters, strengthening monitoring, and making emergency preparations, the adverse effects brought by groundwater can be effectively overcome, ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction.
