    Rotary drilling rigs are core construction equipment in foundation engineering, and the professional quality of operators directly determines construction efficiency, engineering quality, and job safety. This manual focuses on the entire operation process of rotary drilling rigs to build a systematic training framework from theory to practical operation, helping operators quickly master core skills and carry out work in a standardized manner.



Theory First: Lay the Foundation for Operational Cognition

    Theoretical training is a prerequisite for practical implementation, with a focus on mastering equipment principles, operating standards, and safety guidelines to avoid blind operation risks.


(1) Equipment structure and working principle

Core explanation of key components of rotary drilling rig, including the functions and roles of power head, drill rod, drill bit, chassis, hydraulic system, and electrical control system; Clarify the working logic of core processes such as drilling, lifting, and unloading with a drilling rig, understand the collaborative operation mechanism of hydraulic and electrical systems, and be aware of the wear characteristics and basic maintenance points of common components.


(2) Homework specifications and technical requirements

Based on the basic construction standards, clarify the drilling parameter settings, drilling verticality control, and hole diameter and depth standards for different geological conditions (sand, clay, rock layers); Explain the basic requirements for sediment treatment and mud ratio during the drilling process, as well as the core indicators for acceptance after drilling, to ensure that the construction meets the engineering design standards.


(3) Safety regulations and risk prevention and control

Focus on the safety management regulations for construction sites, clarify the qualification requirements for operators to take up their posts; Sort out the safety risk points before, during and after operation, including equipment stability, protection of surrounding personnel, power safety, and operation taboos in severe weather (rainstorm, gale, etc.); Explain the emergency response process, such as the methods for dealing with equipment jamming and overturning precursors.



Practical Implementation: Hone Standard Operating Skills

    Practical training is supported by theory and adopts a model of "demonstration teaching+group exercises+error correction guidance" to gradually improve operational proficiency, with a focus on breaking through core processes and emergency operations.


(1) Pre job equipment inspection and debugging

Practical training focuses on the full process inspection of equipment before startup, including the integrity of drill rods and bits, the sealing and pressure values of hydraulic systems, the wiring connections of electrical systems, the stability of chassis support legs, and the debugging of mud systems; Develop the habit of "checking first, then turning on" to prevent equipment from working with malfunctions.


(2) Core Process Standard Operation

Special training will be conducted around the four core processes of drilling, lifting, unloading, and shifting. When drilling, practice adjusting the rotation speed and feed rate according to the geology, maintaining the verticality of the borehole, and avoiding deviation and collapse of the hole; When lifting and unloading the drill, master the technique of smooth operation, control the lifting speed, and prevent the drill rod from shaking or the soil from falling; When shifting, operate the chassis steering in a standardized manner to ensure that the equipment maintains a safe distance from surrounding obstacles and operators during movement.


(3) Common fault handling and emergency operation

Conduct simulation and disposal training for common faults such as stuck drills, bent drill rods, and hydraulic leaks that are prone to occur in practical operations, and master the operation methods of fault diagnosis, simple maintenance, and emergency shutdown; Simulate adverse weather and sudden danger scenarios to enhance the emergency response capability and standardized disposal level of operators.



Training Assessment and Long-term Improvement

    After the training, the effectiveness of the training will be double checked through theoretical written tests and practical assessments. The theoretical assessment focuses on equipment principles and safety standards, while the practical assessment focuses on standardized operation, fault handling, and safety protection. Only those who pass the assessment can start working. At the same time, establish a long-term learning mechanism, encourage operators to familiarize themselves with the operating procedures of new equipment, regularly conduct skill reviews and safety drills, continuously improve professional operating abilities, and adhere to the bottom line of construction safety.

    Operators need to keep in mind the principle of "theory guides practical operation, safety runs through the whole process", standardize each step of operation, balance construction efficiency and engineering quality, and prevent safety accidents from occurring.
