Expected recovery in cross-strait navigation, significant reduction in risk of large cargo logistics passage

The current memorandum of understanding on ceasefire between the United States and Iran is gradually being implemented, and both sides have reached a 60 day temporary navigation framework. Iran has cleared mines in the strait and ensured the passage of ships. The United States has simultaneously lifted the blockade of Iranian ports, and the navigation order in the Strait of Hormuz has entered a stage of restoration. Previously, due to the impact of the confrontation and conflict, the cross-strait air routes were blocked and navigation was interrupted. Large engineering equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers were severely hindered in logistics transportation due to the extremely high cost of diversion and long detour periods. With the expected increase in navigation safety, the stability of the core shipping throat in the Middle East has been improved, and the risk of sudden shutdowns and port delays in the long-distance transportation of large equipment has been significantly reduced, providing a basic logistics channel for the export of pile foundation equipment to the Middle East.

Rational decline in shipping costs, repair of profit margins for equipment exports

During the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran, the risk insurance premiums, fuel costs, and bypass freight charges for the Middle East air route have significantly increased. Coupled with the exclusive lifting, reinforcement, and escort costs for large equipment, the cross-border logistics costs of rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers remain high, continuously squeezing the export profits of engineering equipment enterprises. With the dawn of the ceasefire agreement, the regional maritime risk rating has been downgraded, shipping insurance costs have gradually fallen, ships no longer need to detour around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, and the voyage and fuel consumption have been significantly reduced. At the same time, the partial exemption of US sanctions and the resumption of oil trade have driven the recovery of shipping capacity, steadily reduced the cost of booking large equipment, and continuously improved logistics economy.

The situation still has game variables, and there are still constraints on the normalization of logistics

At present, there is significant uncertainty in the ceasefire process between the United States and Iran. The core differences between the two sides have not been completely resolved, and the US has been hesitant and eager to sign a contract. Iran insists on controlling the management of the Strait of Hormuz and does not recognize the completely free passage model. At the same time, the opposition in Israel and the United States continue to exert pressure, adding variables to the implementation of the agreement. For the transportation of long-period and highly customized large equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers, a brief recovery in navigation does not mean that the situation is completely stable. Short term routes only achieve temporary recovery, and traffic control and temporary inspections may still exist. Equipment transportation still needs to reserve risk plans, which cannot fully restore normal batch transportation.

Regional infrastructure demand is released, and the vitality of the large-scale logistics market is enhanced

Many Middle Eastern countries are steadily promoting energy infrastructure, urban renewal, and road and bridge construction based on the opportunity of peace. Confidence in regional infrastructure investment continues to rebound, and the demand for imported core equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers for pile foundations is steadily released. After the improvement of navigation conditions, the delivery cycle of equipment has been significantly shortened, effectively solving problems such as equipment delays, construction site shutdowns, and project delays in the past. As Pakistan, Türkiye and other countries continue to mediate and maintain stability, the Middle East economic and trade cooperation environment continues to optimize, which will continue to drive the steady development of China's large-scale engineering equipment export and supporting cross-border logistics industry in the medium and long term.
