The drill bit of a rotary drilling rig is its "powerful tool" for operation. Different drill bits are suitable for different strata and construction requirements. Choosing the right drill bit can enhance drilling efficiency and ensure project quality. The following introduces six commonly used drill bits.

2

1. Spiral drill bits: They are divided into single-head and multi-head types, with blades in a spiral shape. It is suitable for soft strata such as clay and silt. It relies on the rotation of blades to lift and discharge the debris. The drilling speed is fast and it is not easy to cause hole collapse.

2. Cylindrical drill bit: Also known as core drill bit, it is cylindrical in shape and has cutting teeth at the bottom. It is specifically designed for hard strata such as rock layers and pebble layers. By breaking the rock mass with cutting teeth, complete rock cores can be obtained.

3. Sand-picking drill bit: It has a valve at the bottom and filter holes on the cylinder wall. It is used for treating loose strata such as grit and silt, and can efficiently retrieve impurities like sand and pebbles, preventing blockage inside the holes.

4. Bucket drill bit: Composed of a bucket door and a bucket, the bucket door can close automatically. It is suitable for sand and gravel layers. When drilling, the construction waste is collected in the hopper. When lifting, the hopper door is closed to prevent spillage.

5. Cone drill bit: Equipped with multiple toothed cones, it breaks the stratum through the rolling of the cones. It is suitable for complex strata such as hard rock and weathered rock, with strong wear resistance and high crushing efficiency.

6. Reaming drill bit: It can perform reaming operations at the bottom of the borehole and is composed of a main drill bit and a reaming tool. It is often used to expand the bottom of pile foundations, increase the bearing capacity of pile bodies, and meet the requirements of building structures.

The selection of drill bits for rotary drilling RIGS should be based on the characteristics of the stratum and construction requirements. Spiral drill bits are suitable for soft soil, cylindrical and cone drill bits are specialized in hard strata, sand-grabbing and bucket-type drill bits handle loose materials, and bottom-expanding drill bits serve special structures. The rational selection of drill bits is the key to improving the efficiency of rotary drilling operations.
