The locking rod and friction resistance rod of the rotary drilling rig are its important components and play different roles in construction. Understanding their uses and differences helps to better select the appropriate drill pipes based on construction requirements, thereby enhancing construction efficiency and quality.

1.Working principle: The mechanical lock rod locks the drill pipe in the extended state through the internal mechanical lock pin structure, achieving stable pressurized drilling. The friction rod relies on the friction between the drill pipe and the hole wall to transmit the pressure and torque during drilling, without a mechanical locking device.

2. Applicable geology: The mechanical lock rod is suitable for complex and hard strata such as hard rock and gravel layers, and can provide relatively large drilling pressure and torque. Friction rods are more suitable for soft layers such as soil layers and sand layers, and can fully exert their advantage of high drilling efficiency in such strata.

3. Drilling depth: Due to its stable structure, the machine lock rod can effectively reduce the shaking during the drilling process and achieve a relatively large drilling depth. Due to the size of the friction force, the friction resistance rod is usually inferior to the machine lock rod in terms of drilling depth and is suitable for drilling operations at shallower depths.

4. Operational difficulty: The operation of the machine lock rod is relatively complex, requiring precise control of the opening and closing of the lock pin, and has high technical requirements for the operator. The operation of the friction rod is relatively simple. It only requires controlling the lowering and lifting of the drill pipe, making it easier for beginners to get started.

5. Equipment cost: The mechanical lock rod has a complex structure and high manufacturing process requirements, resulting in relatively high costs. Friction resistance rods have a simple structure and low cost, and are widely used in some projects with limited budgets and suitable geological conditions.

6. Maintenance and Care: The mechanical lock pins and other components of the machine lock rod wear out significantly during use and require regular inspection and maintenance, which incurs high maintenance costs and difficulty. Friction resistance rods mainly focus on surface wear conditions. Their maintenance is relatively simple and the cost is also low.

Conclusion: Both the mechanical lock rod and the friction resistance rod have their own advantages and disadvantages. In actual construction, the selection and use should be reasonable based on factors such as geological conditions, drilling depth, cost budget, and the technical level of the operators, so as to give full play to the performance of the rotary drilling rig and ensure the smooth progress of the project.
