The low-temperature environment in winter poses many challenges to the construction of rotary drilling tools. It is crucial to master the key points of operation under special working conditions. The following six guidelines will help you work safely and efficiently in the severe cold.

1. Preheating of the equipment is indispensable: Before starting the rotary drilling rig, run the engine at low speed for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the engine oil to fully lubricate all components and prevent mechanical damage caused by cold start. Meanwhile, preheat the hydraulic system to ensure smooth flow of hydraulic oil.

2. Check the anti-freezing measures: Carefully inspect the concentration of the antifreeze to ensure it can withstand the local minimum temperature. In addition, insulation covers should be installed on parts such as water tanks and oil tanks to prevent the liquid from freezing and affecting the operation of the equipment.

3. There are certain considerations when choosing drill bits: In winter, the soil freezes and hardens, so drill bits with strong wear resistance and sharp drill teeth should be selected. Adjust the type of drill bit in a timely manner according to the thickness and hardness of the frozen soil to improve the drilling efficiency.

4. Control the drilling speed: Permafrost has high resistance. Do not blindly increase the drilling speed. Drilling should be carried out slowly and at a constant speed to avoid distortion of the drill pipe and accelerated wear of the drill bit due to excessive load.

5. Timely clean the drilling tools: After each drilling operation is completed, promptly remove the soil and ice on the drill bit to prevent freezing and accumulation, which may affect the next operation. Pay attention to safety when cleaning to avoid frostbite.

6. Proper maintenance during shutdown: After the operation is completed, park the drilling rig in a dry and sheltered place. Drain the water from the water tank, apply anti-freezing grease to the key parts of the equipment, and carry out comprehensive maintenance work.
