Solutions for Groundwater Construction by Rotary Drilling RIGS

During the operation of rotary drilling RIGS, if groundwater is not properly treated, it can easily lead to problems such as hole collapse and excessive sediment, which will affect the quality of pile formation and construction efficiency. Reasonable response to groundwater is the key to ensuring the smooth progress of the project. The following are specific solutions.

1. Collection well drainage method: Set up collection Wells around the pile holes, and use water pumps to promptly discharge the groundwater seeping into the holes. It is suitable for situations where the underground water volume is small and the water level is low, and can quickly lower the water level in the hole.


2. Well point dewatering method: Arrange well point pipes along the construction area and use vacuum equipment to extract groundwater to form a stable dewatering funnel. It is suitable for scenarios with large underground water volume and high soil permeability coefficient, and can effectively control the surrounding water level.


3. Mud wall protection method: Special mud is injected into the pile hole. The pressure of the mud is used to balance the groundwater pressure, and at the same time, a mud skin is formed to prevent the hole wall from collapsing. It is often used in loose soil layers or water-rich strata, and has both wall protection and slag discharge functions.


4. Water-stop curtain method: By using high-pressure rotary jet grouting, deep stirring and other processes, a closed curtain is formed around the pile to block the groundwater recharge channel. It is applicable to sensitive projects where the water level changes outside the construction area need to be strictly controlled.


5. Dry-hard concrete bottom seal: When there is a small amount of water gushing from the bottom of the hole, quickly pour dry-hard concrete to form a bottom seal to prevent groundwater from seeping upward. It is easy to operate and suitable for emergency handling of small-scale water seepage.


6. Double-casing construction method: It adopts double-layer casing, with the outer casing blocking groundwater and the inner casing working in conjunction with a drilling rig to form a hole. It is suitable for complex strata with high water levels and prone to collapse, and can significantly enhance construction safety.
