The drill pipe of a rotary drilling rig is the core component for transmitting torque and axial pressure. Its selection directly affects the drilling efficiency, hole formation quality and equipment service life. 1. Select the type based on geological conditions: For soft strata such as clayey soil and sandy soil, friction drill pipes can be chosen, which rely on friction to transmit power. For hard rock and pebble layers, machine-locked drill pipes are required to provide stronger torque through the locking structure.


2. Match the power parameters of the drilling rig: The rated torque and maximum applied force of the drill pipe should be matched with the output of the drilling rig to avoid overload damage caused by "a small horse pulling a big cart" or waste of efficiency due to "overkill".


3. Select the number of sections based on the hole depth: For shallow holes (within 30 meters), 3 to 4 sections of drill pipe can be chosen to reduce connection time. Deep hole construction requires an increase in the number of sections, but the length of each section needs to be controlled to ensure the stability of the lifting.


4. Pay attention to material and strength: Give priority to high-strength alloy steel drill pipes, which have better fatigue resistance and wear resistance. Especially in hard rock or grave-containing strata, they can significantly extend the service life.


5. Check the connection and sealing performance: The fit accuracy and sealing effect of the drill pipe joint are of vital importance. It is necessary to ensure that the connection is firm and there is no leakage of slurry to avoid torque loss or contamination inside the hole due to loosening during drilling.


6. Consider special construction requirements: Anti-corrosion treated drill pipes should be selected in corrosive strata. In noise-sensitive areas such as municipal engineering, drill pipes with shock-absorbing structures can be selected to reduce vibration noise.
