As a core heavy equipment for deep foundation construction, rotary drilling rigs are prone to problems such as metal component corrosion, electrical system moisture, and hydraulic system aging when left idle for a long time (usually exceeding 3 months) due to environmental humidity, temperature changes, and dust erosion. This not only damages equipment components but also significantly reduces equipment residual value and subsequent operational performance. Combining the complex structure and precise core components of rotary drilling rigs, scientifically formulating anti rust, moisture-proof, and performance maintenance strategies is the key to avoiding equipment idle wear and tear, achieving performance preservation, and is also an important part of fine management of engineering machinery.

Pre preparation: Comprehensive cleaning to eliminate the source of idle hazards

Comprehensive cleaning before long-term idle is the foundation of maintenance work, which can effectively reduce the hidden dangers of rust and moisture. Firstly, thoroughly clean the surface and core components of the aircraft body of any dirt, sand, gravel, oil stains, and other debris. Focus on cleaning the drill rods, drill buckets, power heads, hydraulic pipelines, and other areas that are prone to accumulation of dirt to avoid long-term attachment of debris that may cause component corrosion. Secondly, clean the electrical control system, dashboard, and wiring terminals, wipe the surface dust with a dry soft cloth to prevent dust accumulation from causing short circuits or poor contact. Finally, clean up the equipment parking area to ensure that it is flat, dry, ventilated, and away from areas with accumulated water, acidic and alkaline substances, and dust, creating a good environment for idle equipment.

Rust prevention and maintenance: precise protection to prevent metal parts from rusting

The rotary drilling rig has numerous metal components, especially the exposed parts such as drill rods, drill buckets, support legs, and body frames, which are susceptible to corrosion caused by air and moisture erosion when left idle for a long time. Therefore, targeted protection measures need to be taken. For components such as drill rods and drill buckets that are prone to wear and corrosion, clean and dry them, and evenly apply rust proof oil or rust inhibitor. Focus on covering weak areas such as interfaces and welds to form a dense protective layer; For exposed bolts, nuts, and other connecting components, apply butter for rust prevention, and tighten loose parts to prevent rainwater and moisture from seeping in. In addition, regularly check the status of the anti rust coating. If it falls off or is damaged, it should be reapplied in a timely manner to ensure the continuous effectiveness of the anti rust effect and avoid a decrease in component strength or damage caused by rust.

Moisture protection: multiple measures taken to safeguard electrical and hydraulic systems

The humid environment is the "invisible killer" of idle rotary drilling rigs, which can easily cause electrical system short circuits, hydraulic system oil emulsification, and affect equipment performance. In terms of moisture prevention in the electrical system, turn off the main power supply of the equipment, remove the battery, place it in a dry and ventilated room, regularly charge and maintain it, and prevent battery depletion, leakage, or plate vulcanization; Spray moisture-proof agents and wrap waterproof and dustproof covers on electrical wiring terminals, motors, and other components to prevent moisture from entering. In terms of moisture prevention in the hydraulic system, check for any damage or leakage in the hydraulic pipelines, replenish qualified hydraulic oil to the specified level, start the equipment and run it for 10-15 minutes to allow the hydraulic oil to circulate fully and remove any moisture from the system; Regularly start the equipment during idle periods to maintain the activity of the hydraulic system and prevent oil emulsification and pipeline blockage.

Performance preservation: Regular inspection to maintain equipment in good condition

Long term idleness does not mean 'letting it go'. Regular inspection and maintenance can effectively maintain equipment performance, avoid component aging, and ensure rapid deployment in the future. Check the appearance of the equipment every week to ensure that rust and moisture prevention measures are in place and there are no signs of rust or moisture; Start the equipment once a month and run it for 15-20 minutes to check the operation status of the engine, power head, and hydraulic system, and observe for any abnormal sounds, leaks, or other abnormalities. At the same time, check the lubrication system to ensure sufficient lubrication at each lubrication point and replenish lubricating grease in a timely manner; Check the condition of the tires or tracks, adjust the tire pressure or track tension to prevent deformation caused by long-term standing. In addition, keep maintenance records, detailing the inspection time, content, and abnormal situations, to provide reference for subsequent equipment activation and maintenance.

Pre activation check: Conduct a comprehensive investigation to ensure safe use

After being idle for a long time, the rotary drilling rig needs to be thoroughly inspected to eliminate potential hazards and ensure safe and stable operation of the equipment. Firstly, remove the anti rust and moisture-proof protective devices, clean all components of the equipment, check whether the metal parts are corroded, whether the electrical system is damp, and whether the hydraulic pipelines are blocked. Secondly, check whether the battery, hydraulic oil, lubricating oil, etc. meet the usage requirements, and replace or supplement them if necessary; Start the equipment, comprehensively inspect the operating status of the engine, power head, hydraulic system, and electrical system, and troubleshoot issues such as abnormal noise, leakage, and poor contact. Finally, conduct a no-load trial run to test whether the equipment operates smoothly, ensure that the equipment performance meets the standards, and then put it into actual construction to avoid operational failures caused by idle wear and tear.
