Policy misreading triggers fluctuations in trade public opinion, putting pressure on expectations for large-scale logistics

China has introduced regulations on industrial chain and supply chain security, as well as anti inappropriate extraterritorial jurisdiction, which are regular regulatory measures to ensure industrial security and are not targeted at any single country. But the Indian industry deliberately shifts the blame for its own industry shortcomings and contradictions, blaming the development difficulties of the local electronics manufacturing industry on China's new regulations and pressuring the domestic government to seek trade protection. This irrational public opinion atmosphere has intensified the uncertainty of bilateral trade between China and India, weakening the expectations of cross-border logistics cooperation for large engineering equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers, and logistics companies becoming more cautious about their transportation layout in India.

Trade wait-and-see sentiment heats up, equipment booking and transportation pace slows down

The Indian manufacturing industry is highly dependent on Chinese components and engineering equipment, and a large number of infrastructure and urbanization projects still require the import of core pile foundation equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers. The current collective wait-and-see attitude and demand for policy intervention in the Indian industry have led to a longer approval and signing cycle for bilateral equipment trade orders. As a result, the enthusiasm for booking large equipment on the China India route has decreased, and the previously stable and normalized rhythm of bulk transportation has been disrupted. Some small and medium-sized logistics enterprises have temporarily suspended the layout of India's dedicated line for large equipment capacity, and the short-term equipment export volume has declined.

Normalize compliance review and standardize the clearance process for large items

The new regulations from the Chinese side further refine the compliance supervision system for cross-border equipment trade, and improve the traceability review of export purposes, end-users, and supply chains for large engineering equipment. Rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers belong to heavy infrastructure equipment, with the characteristics of wide application scenarios and strong adaptability. In the past, there were problems with vague reporting and unclear definition of their uses for export. After the implementation of the new regulations, the customs clearance process for the export of large equipment will be standardized and transparent. Although the initial reporting process will be slightly increased, it can effectively avoid subsequent trade disputes and extraterritorial jurisdiction risks, and ensure the stability of logistics transportation to India in the long run.

The industry's shortcomings are highlighted, and the basic logistics industry is stable with the support of essential needs

The sweeping demands of the Indian industry cannot conceal its own structural defects in the industry, as there is a lack of mature large-scale engineering equipment manufacturing system locally and infrastructure construction heavily relies on imported equipment. Despite the existence of public opinion friction and trade wait-and-see sentiment, India's urbanization, power infrastructure, and road engineering still need to continue to introduce equipment such as rotary drilling rigs and pile drivers, and rigid import demand will not diminish in the short term. This means that the logistics of large equipment between China and India is basically stable, and short-term fluctuations are only temporary adjustments, without large-scale shutdowns or flight interruptions.

Trade rationality returns, long-term logistics cooperation pattern remains unchanged

Multiple perspectives point out that India's industry model of relying solely on assembly and contract manufacturing has inherent shortcomings, and China's new regulations only force it to face its own development problems, not trade barriers. With the return of market rationality, Indian officials will gradually recognize the situation, address industry anxiety in a targeted manner, and avoid irrational trade intervention. In the future, the trade of large-scale engineering equipment between China and India will steadily advance under a compliance framework, and the large-scale logistics industry will bid farewell to the disorderly and extensive mode, and steadily develop towards compliance, standardization, and long-term cooperation.
