To determine the "age" of a second-hand rotary drilling rig, it is not only necessary to look at the factory time, but also to combine the actual usage marks. Accurately identifying the service life can help you avoid severely aged equipment. The following six methods can be used as references:

2

1. Check the factory nameplate: The nameplates on key parts of the machine body will indicate the production date, which is the basis for determining the "physiological age" of the equipment. However, it should be noted that refurbished equipment may have its nameplate replaced, and verification should be conducted in combination with other clues.

2. Check the engine running time: The engine computer of modern rotary drilling RIGS records the cumulative running time. Under normal working conditions, it is approximately 2,000 to 3,000 hours per year. If the time deviation from the production date is too large, it may be due to meter adjustment or overuse.

3. Observe the wear of structural components: If there is obvious wear, rust or welding repair marks at the connection points of load-bearing parts such as the boom and drill pipe, it indicates that the service life is relatively long. The metal surface of a new machine usually retains the factory coating and processing luster.

4. Check the status of the hydraulic system: If the hydraulic oil pipes show signs of aging and cracking, oil leakage at the joints, or if the hydraulic oil is black in color and contains many impurities, it often indicates that the equipment has been in use for more than five years. The hydraulic system pipelines of the new machine are clean and tidy, and the oil is clear.

5. Check maintenance records: A complete maintenance manual will record the time and items of each maintenance. The service life can be estimated based on the date of the last maintenance. Missing records or overly long maintenance intervals may suggest that the service life of the equipment is ambiguous.

6. Check the aging of the electrical system: Oxidation of wire harness joints, lagging of instrument panel display, and frequent sensor failures are mostly signs that the equipment has been in use for more than 8 years. The electrical components of the new machine respond sensitively and the circuit layout is regular.

To identify the "age" of a second-hand rotary drilling rig, multi-dimensional cross-verification is required. The production date is the benchmark, while the actual wear condition can better reflect the true usage intensity. By making a comprehensive judgment based on the above methods, one can effectively avoid being misled by the refurbished appearance and select equipment with a higher cost performance.
