In the construction of rotary drilling RIGS, hole collapse is a common and highly hazardous accident, which not only affects the construction progress but may also cause safety issues. Mastering the prevention methods for hole collapse accidents is of vital importance to ensuring the smooth progress of construction.

1. Geological investigation should be meticulous: Before construction, a detailed geological investigation is necessary to clarify the soil layer structure, groundwater distribution, etc. For strata prone to collapse holes such as quicksand layers and loose sandy soil, special protection plans should be formulated in advance.

2. Mud wall protection should be standardized: Prepare mud with appropriate specific gravity and viscosity based on geological conditions to ensure the formation of an effective protective layer on the hole wall. During construction, the performance of the mud should be monitored in real time and adjusted promptly to maintain the wall protection effect.

3. Reasonable control of drilling speed: In soft strata, avoid rapid drilling to prevent excessive disturbance to the hole wall. When encountering the junction of soft and hard strata, it is necessary to slow down and make a smooth transition to reduce the risk of hole wall collapse.

4. Stable water level control in the hole: Keep the water level in the hole 1-2 meters higher than the groundwater level and maintain water pressure balance by replenishing water. A sudden drop in water level can easily cause instability of the hole wall, and it is necessary to assign dedicated personnel to monitor and replenish water in a timely manner.

5. Avoid rough operation of drilling tools: When lifting and placing the drill bucket, the movement should be smooth to prevent it from colliding with the hole wall and causing collapse. After the drill bucket is filled with construction waste, it should be lifted slowly to prevent the hole wall structure from being damaged due to excessive negative pressure.

6. Early emergency preparedness: Prepare emergency supplies such as clay and sandbags in advance. Once there are slight signs of hole collapse, immediately take measures such as backfilling and compaction. At the same time, a detailed emergency response plan should be formulated to ensure rapid response and handling.

In conclusion, to prevent hole collapse accidents, it is necessary to start from multiple links such as investigation, wall protection and operation, and take preventive measures in combination with geological characteristics. Standardizing the construction process, strengthening real-time monitoring and preparing emergency plans can effectively reduce the risk of hole collapse and ensure the safety and efficiency of rotary drilling rig operations.
