In the operation of rotary drilling RIGS, the wear and tear of drill bits and drill pipes is a common problem. Timely judgment of the degree of wear and tear can prevent more serious malfunctions. Next, I'll tell you how to accurately determine the wear and tear of drilling anomalies.

1. Sudden drop in drilling speed: If you notice that the drilling speed of the drilling rig has suddenly slowed down significantly and is difficult to improve even with increased power, it is very likely that the cutting edge of the drill bit is severely worn and its cutting capacity has declined. Timely inspection and replacement are necessary.


2. Abnormal increase in torque: During operation, the torque of the drilling rig suddenly rises significantly, and the equipment makes abnormal noises. This is most likely due to the bending deformation of the drill pipe or poor contact between the drill bit and the stratum, resulting in increased drilling resistance.


3. Severe drilling deviation: The drilled holes show obvious skewing and deviation. After excluding operational and geological factors, it is highly likely that the drill pipe is worn, resulting in insufficient rigidity and inability to guide stably, which affects the drilling accuracy.


4. Intensified vibration amplitude: During the drilling process, the drilling rig vibrates abnormally strongly, even experiencing severe shaking. This could be due to local damage or tooth loss of the drill bit, or loose or worn connection parts of the drill pipe. Immediate shutdown for inspection is required.


5. Unstable feed rate: During continuous operation, the feed rate fluctuates greatly, indicating uneven wear of the drill bit or internal damage to the drill pipe, which affects the continuity and stability of the drilling process.


6. Abnormal changes in slag return: Observe the slag return. If you find that the rock debris particles become smaller, the quantity decreases, or metal debris appears, it indicates that the drill bit is severely worn. If rust is mixed in the returned slag, it may be due to corrosion wear of the drill pipe.


By paying attention to these abnormal phenomena during the drilling process, we can promptly detect the wear and tear of the drill bit and drill pipe. Taking maintenance and replacement measures as early as possible can not only avoid the downtime losses caused by equipment failure, but also ensure the construction quality and efficiency, and reduce the overall cost.
