1. Based on working pressure: The working pressure of rotary drilling RIGS is high. For equipment using plunger pumps, the pressure often reaches 35MPa or even higher. High-pressure anti-wear hydraulic oil, such as 68# anti-wear hydraulic oil, should be selected to ensure that hydraulic components can be well lubricated under high pressure and reduce wear.


2. Reference ambient temperature: If the working environment temperature is high and it is close to a heat source, oil with good viscosity-temperature performance should be selected. Its viscosity changes little with temperature and can maintain stable performance. In low-temperature environments, low-temperature hydraulic oil is used to ensure that the equipment starts easily at low temperatures and that the oil has good fluidity.


3. Matching sealing materials: The materials of the seals in the hydraulic system must be compatible with the hydraulic oil; otherwise, the seals may expand or contract, leading to oil leakage and affecting the operation of the equipment. When making a selection, attention should be paid to the adaptability of the hydraulic oil to the seals.


4. Pay attention to anti-wear performance: When the rotary drilling rig is in operation, the components of the hydraulic system frequently rub against each other. Therefore, the hydraulic oil must have good anti-wear properties. Hydraulic oil with anti-wear additives can effectively protect the main pump, rotary motor and other components, and extend their service life.

Consider oxidation stability: Due to the high power density and operating temperature of rotary drilling RIGS, special hydraulic oil with good oxidation stability should be selected to slow down the deterioration rate of the oil, reduce the frequency of oil changes, and lower maintenance costs.


6. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the oil: Clean hydraulic oil is of vital importance, especially for rotary drilling RIGS that use plunger pumps, which have extremely high requirements for oil purity. It is necessary to avoid the mixture of impurities, otherwise it will accelerate component wear and affect equipment performance.
