Karst geology poses unique challenges to the construction of rotary drilling RIGS due to complex structures such as caves and gullies. Targeted technical measures should be adopted to avoid risks such as collapse and stuck drill, ensuring the quality and efficiency of hole formation.
1. Advanced geological exploration: Before construction, geological radar, drilling and other means are used to clarify the distribution, size and filling conditions of karst caves, providing precise basis for the drilling plan and avoiding accidents caused by blind construction.
2. Drilling parameter adjustment: In karst areas, the drilling speed should be reduced, the torque decreased, and the drilling pressure controlled simultaneously to prevent the drill bit from suddenly falling into the cave, which could cause equipment damage or hole wall collapse.
3. Cave filling treatment: For small caves, materials such as clay and crushed stones can be directly added for backfilling and compaction. For large karst caves, steel cages or steel casings should be used for support before filling to ensure the stability of the cave walls.
4. Optimization of mud wall protection: Increase the viscosity and specific gravity of the mud to enhance the wall protection capacity, prevent mud loss and hole wall collapse, especially in areas with well-developed erosion fissures, the mud circulation volume needs to be increased.
5. Drill bit selection and compatibility: Choose conical or bucket-shaped drill bits to reduce the collision and impact with the cave wall. For filled rock layers, alloy tooth drill bits can be used to enhance the crushing efficiency.
6. Real-time monitoring and feedback: By monitoring the changes in parameters such as drilling pressure and speed through drilling rig sensors, and combining the backflow of slurry at the hole opening to determine karst structures, the construction strategy can be adjusted in a timely manner.
In karst geological construction, rotary drilling RIGS should be based on exploration and adopt comprehensive measures such as parameter regulation, cave treatment, and wall protection optimization to cope with complex environments. Strictly adhering to technical specifications can effectively reduce construction risks, achieve efficient and safe hole formation, and lay a solid foundation for subsequent projects.
