In the construction of rotary drilling RIGS, curved holes and skew are common quality problems, mostly caused by complex geological conditions and improper operation. If not dealt with in time, it may lead to consequences such as the inability to lower the steel cage and uneven force on the pile body. 1. Strengthen the geological investigation in the early stage: Conduct a detailed investigation of the stratum distribution before construction to clearly identify the locations of potential hazards such as soft and hard interlayers and isolated rocks. For complex geological conditions, drilling plans should be formulated in advance. When encountering hard layers, the speed should be slowed down to avoid forced impact.


2. Ensure the drilling rig is installed stably: After the drilling rig is in place, the machine body should be leveled and the force balance of the tracks or outriggers should be checked. When constructing on soft soil foundations, steel plates can be laid to increase the force-bearing area and prevent the tilt of the machine body from causing deviation in hole positions.


3. Standardize the selection and installation of drilling tools: Choose the appropriate type of drill bit based on the stratum to avoid deviation caused by excessive weight or imbalance of the drill bit. When installing drill pipes, ensure that the connections are concentric. Regularly check the verticality of the drill pipes and replace bent parts in a timely manner.


4. Control drilling operation parameters: At the junction of soft and hard strata, adopt a low-speed and slow-advance operation mode to reduce the impact of sudden changes in formation resistance on the hole wall. When drilling is blocked, it is strictly forbidden to push or drill forcefully. Instead, the drill should be lifted repeatedly to sweep the hole for correction.


5. Timely handle any existing curved holes: If the hole slope is small, it can be corrected by adjusting the verticality of the drilling rig and then slowly sweeping the hole. When the deviation is severe, the clay should be backfilled 1-2 meters above the curved hole. After it settles and compacts, re-drill.


6. Strengthen process monitoring and record-keeping: Use an inclinometer to regularly check the slope of the holes. If the deviation exceeds the limit, stop the machine immediately for handling. Record the drilling parameters of different strata to accumulate and adjust the basis for subsequent similar geological construction.
