The strata in limestone caves are complex and variable, with different sizes and fillers. This brings many difficulties to the construction of rotary drilling RIGS, such as hole collapse and stuck drilling. But as long as the scientific methods are mastered, better and faster drilling can be achieved.

1

1. Conduct precise cave exploration. Before construction, geological radar and other means were used to thoroughly investigate the location, size and type of filling materials of the cave. Based on this, formulate a construction plan and prepare the corresponding materials and equipment in advance.

2. Optimize the slurry ratio. According to the characteristics of the cave, adjust the specific gravity, viscosity and colloidal rate of the mud. High specific gravity mud can enhance the wall protection effect, prevent hole collapse and create conditions for smooth drilling.

3. Select the appropriate drill bit. In view of the characteristics of limestone, high-strength drill bits made of alloy steel are adopted. For karst cave areas, drill bits with guiding devices can be used to improve drilling accuracy and reduce skew.

4. Control the drilling parameters. Drilling should be carried out at a low rotational speed and with slow footage to avoid the collapse of the hole wall due to excessive impact force. Adjust the drilling pressure and rotational speed in a timely manner according to the changes in the stratum.

5. Deal with the karst caves in a timely manner. When encountering small karst caves, they can be backfilled with clay or rubble. For large karst caves, concrete should be poured or steel casings should be placed. After backfilling, re-drill to ensure the stability of the hole wall.

6. Ensure proper equipment maintenance. When working in complex strata, the equipment wears out greatly. Regularly inspect components such as drill bits and drill pipes, and promptly replace severely worn parts to ensure the stable performance of the equipment.

In conclusion, when using rotary drilling RIGS to drill in limestone cave strata, it is necessary to start from multiple aspects such as exploration, mud, drill bits, parameters, cave treatment and equipment maintenance, and ensure that each step is closely linked and scientific construction is carried out. Only in this way can the drilling efficiency and quality be effectively improved and the construction task be successfully completed.
